Hassalo on Eighth Honored as a Bike-Centric Development

September 24, 2016

GBD’s Hassalo on Eighth team was honored to receive the Builders Award from our long-time friends at The Street Trust at the Alice Awards + Auction this week. The Hassalo development of three LEED Platinum multifamily buildings in the Lloyd District was recognized for its enormous bike hub and commitment to developing a truly multi-modal urban space. GBD Principal Kyle Andersen and Wade Lange of American Assets Trust accepted the award on behalf of the team.

Once a location dominated by surface parking lots, Hassalo has transformed the neighborhood into a vibrant place for people to live, work, and play. The development is intentionally located near bike, walk, and public transit infrastructure that quickly connect the community to Downtown Portland and beyond. The public Lloyd Cycle Station is a world-class bicycle parking facility open to the greater community. It contains 600 secure bike parking stations, shower facilities, a bike repair station, bike wash, and valet bike parking.

We look forward to watching The Street Trust (formerly Bike Transportation Alliance) grow in its new form as a multi-modal advocacy group.
