The Union is a 192,000 sq. foot, seven-story mixed-use apartment building, and one of three redevelopments located on an existing superblock with common ownerships and lot realignments.
The Union features 186 market-rate, for-rent apartments (174 upper level and 12 walk-up style units) and approximately 3,400 sq. feet of ground-level retail. Amenities include a second-level, outdoor courtyard terrace and adjacent clubroom, ground-level fitness center, a dog-wash facility, and long-term bicycle storage.
Located in the transitional Lloyd/Convention Center District, with close proximity to the Rose Garden Arena and Memorial Coliseum, public transportation access includes the adjacent light rail and streetcar alignments, and an on-site stop for several major bus lines.
With substantial site terrain change on-site, the building base meets grade with plentiful landscaping, seating and patios; all enhance the pedestrian experience, while providing a unique transition between public/private spaces and from indoors to outdoors.
While not pursuing green building certification, sustainable features include low-flow fixtures, low-VOC paints and finishes, high efficiency mechanical and plumbing systems, efficient lighting, high albedo roofing surface, blown-in batt insulation, and high-performance window and glazing systems. All site and roof storm- and rainwater runoff will be treated with flow-through planters on-site.
