Benevento ApartmentsPortland, Oregon The Benevento apartments are located in a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use neighborhood of Northwest Portland. The project adds a small, mixed-use retail and residential building to the vibrant commercial neighborhood of NW 23rd Avenue. The development is a 31,000 sq. foot, four-story building, with 4,500 sq. feet of ground floor retail space (including the cherished Lompoc Tavern), 24 apartment units, and 18 secure/semi-automated parking spaces. Contemporary in form, and incorporating similar design elements found among existing nearby structures, the site is well served by public transportation, with bus and streetcar stops within walking distance. The Benevento was named after Rocky Benevento, Sr.—the beloved groundskeeper of Vaughn Street Park and the Portland Beavers. Hardworking and humble, he was a symbol of kinder and simpler times. Sustainable features include: Energy Star appliances, low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets, FSC-Certified Tigerwood siding, locally sourced cabinets and finishes, rainwater-treatment bioplanter, efficient LED lights and occupancy sensors, secure bike storage available on each floor, and large windows to maximize access to daylight. Completed in May 2013, The Benevento achieved a LEED for Homes Platinum rating by the USGBC.
