Gene Callan

Gene specializes in design and master planning, and is passionate about finding creative solutions to design problems that merge aesthetics with practicality. Gene has more than 37 years of architectural experience, helping to grow GBD from a 20-person firm in the 1980’s to nearly 100 today. Over the years, he has developed an outstanding ability to lead large groups through complex, technically-oriented design projects, all while placing the client’s needs first. The depth of Gene’s experience is matched by his breadth of knowledge in project types that include commercial, mixed-use, athletic, retail and housing projects. Today, Gene is semi-retired, spending time at his ranch in Eastern Washington where he enjoys his church, family, cattle herd, biking and morning basketball with local friends.
